Al-Hagan Farm was established in 2012 in Wadi Al-Natroun, 100 km from Cairo, Egypt. It is owned by Khalid Al-Hagan and his family. It is managed by Khalid Al-Hagan. Haggan Farm rely completely on under ground water for irrigation. Water analysis from Haggan Farm wells proved that it is of high quality and contains minimum amount of particulars percentages.
Haggan Farm rely also on drip irrigation. Water pumped from wells goes directly into the irrigation network to the drippers around the trees. These drippers vary in water dripping capacity according to the requirement of water rates for the crops it serves.
Haggan Farm has adopted Liquid Fertilization in the last 2 years. Successful trial went on first to confirm its applicability to the farm crops. Then, efforts were made to reach a good and reasonable cost reduction, yet keeping trees at its highest healthy conditions and crops at the highest quality to meet market demands.
Lately, Haggan Farm started to use some bio pesticides and predators, along with conventional ways, to beat pests at the farm. These predators and bio pesticides helped in reducing the pest control labors and protecting trees and crops from many diseases. Haggan Farms puts extreme priority in residuals and MRL tests to assure crops meeting international s, and European per say, residuals standards
Date palm trees is one the most important plantations at Haggan Farm, and the most important production of the farm. A reasonable quantity of Medjool and Barhee have been planted already, and further expansion of these varieties plantation are happening at Haggan farm with the objective of making dates production the principal crop produced at the farm. Economical production will start at Haggan Farm in 2020.
Palm trees are planted in separate plots and in other cases in plots with Mango. Palm trees offers mango several benefits related to the more suitable micro climate produced my the palm trees beneath it for the mango trees. This in turn, improves mango production in quantities and quality.
Haggan Farm depends primarily on Tissue culture Organo-Genesis palm transplants for date palm plantations. Torpedo palm transplants (30 cm high, with 3 regular leaves) forms about 80% of the plantation at the farm. These have proven excellent results, most economical, with almost negligible losses and without sacrificing any quality points.
Other varieties have been planted in small quantities to study its success in the farm weather conditions before expanding in large plantations. These are: Khalas, Sokkary, Sagaie, Shishi, Raziz, Nabtet Seif, Khadrawy, etc…
Mango is considered a prime crop at Haggan Farm. Several Mango varieties have been planted at the farm, had successfully produced its crops, and have been marketed reasonably. In a later stage, expansion of Mango plantation did take place, in addition to adding new varieties to the total planted area at the farm. In some plots, Mango and Date Palm trees have been planted together due the benefits that Palm trees add to the Mango orchards.
Varieties planted at Haggan farm are: Yasmina Rosa, Sensation, Osteen, Nem Doc May, Shelly, Naomi, Keitt, Kent, and Joa.
Mango plantation are in plots equipped with wooden structures and steel rods; these provides for crop lifters, protection against sand winds, and allows the installation of mist sprays to protect Mango from cold temperature as well as very hot temperature that may occur during winter and summer.
